Follow up: O. J. McDuffie

Back in May, I blogged about the McDuffie toe-injury case.  A Miami jury had awarded McDuffie, a star receiver for the Dolphins, $11.5 million because a mishandled toe injury  prematurely ended his football career.  Last week the judge awarded a new trial and vacated the verdict.  The judge apparently changed his mind about some evidentiary issues that had come up during the trial.

It is unusual for a judge to grant a new trial on an issue he previously ruled on during the trial, but this case is going up on appeal, and the final word is not in. Stay tuned.
